The Kids & I serves single parent families from our community. We meet together twice a month (September to April) in the church Fellowship Hall for supper and a time of connection and friendship.
Are you a single parent?
Do you want a night out? Do you want a healthy meal for your family without the prep and dishes? Do you want to connect with other single parents while your children are cared for by enthusiastic and loving leaders?
Come check out The Kids and I. It’s a opportunity for single parents to come together and discuss a variety of subjects including parenting, bible studies, finances, and nutrition. It is our hope that you will receive encouragement and helpful tools as you connect with others who are facing some of the same challenges that you face.
What happens at our Tuesday programs?
5:30 pm — Gathering time
6:00 pm — Supper
7:00 pm — Age appropriate programs for adults, children and youth.
8:15 pm — Evening concludes
We have a baby nursery, a toddler room, programs for school age children, and a youth program. Children’s programs may include stories, crafts, recreation time, and singing. School age children spend part of their evening in the gym. Youth activities are always high-energy and lots of fun!
Parent programs provide an opportunity for growth and the development of new friendships and support systems.
You will also be able to access free, good condition clothing and household items through the Care Closet.
The fee for the supper is $1 per family per night.
Free transportation is available in the Millwoods area.
When are the meetings?
We meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. Our 2013 spring meetings are on January 15, January 29, February 12, February 26, March 12, March 26, April 9, and April 23. We will resume again in September 2013.
Do you want to help out?
There are many ways to help with the Kids & I. They include:
- Helping with preparing the meal.
- Doing dishes and cleaning up after the meal.
- Driving families to and from the meal.
- Working with one of our many children or youth groups.
- Preparing curriculum materials for the children’s groups.
- Acting as a hostess and greeting the families as they arrive.
- Supporting the single parents during our evenings and through home visits and phone calls.
- Praying for the evening and the parents.
